JOÃO MARCONDES

JOÃO MARCONDES is a composer, writer, lyricist, poet, arranger, producer, instrumentalist, and music educator.

 

A native of São Paulo with roots in the Paraíba Valley, Marcondes developed the music education methodologies *Universo dos Sons* (comprising 52 books) and *SL Educacional* (comprising 16 books).

 

He is currently an artist with Azul Music, Brazil's leading classical music label, having released seven albums in 2025. In total, he has released 29 albums of written music, 12 jazz albums, and 9 albums featuring his own lyrics and compositions.

 

As a composer, he has released nearly 100 works for various chamber ensembles. These include pieces for string quartet, various chamber groups ), string orchestra, as well as duos, trios, quintets, sextets, and solo pieces. These works are consistently performed by leading instrumentalists from the São Paulo music scene, including musicians from the OSESP, the Municipal Theater, and the OSUSP. He has worked on soundtracks for documentaries, film, and television, and has appeared on programs such as Fernando Faro’s *Ensaio* and *Mosaicos*, both broadcast on TV Cultura. He has four hundred arrangements recorded on audio and video media. As an educator, he has taught since 2003 at a prominent Brazilian and international institution, where he has also served as a pedagogical coordinator and assistant director since 2010.

 

An innovation manager in the field of education, he created several programs: a Postgraduate Course in Music Education with an Emphasis on Methodological Development; Technical Courses in Music Production, Voice, and Soundtrack Composition; a Technical Specialization in Improvisation; a University Entrance Exam Preparatory Program; and an open course titled *Popular Composition: Lyrics and Music*. He also runs a trilingual blog—with original content for each language—featuring over 1,000 posts, 90,000 monthly readers, and 5 million articles read. Through the blog, he provides guidance to musicians and aspiring musicians via articles and interviews covering a wide range of topics.

JOÃO MARCONDES holds a Master’s degree in Education, Art, and Cultural History, as well as a specialization in Brazilian Music Pedagogy. He holds a degree in music and has technical training in both music and business administration.

He has conducted courses on Brazilian music in twenty countries, notably Cuba, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Mexico, Italy, and Argentina.

He created the Composers' Collective project, which strengthens new compositions and Brazilian chamber music on an international level. He is the director of DECOMPOSERS,  UNPREDICTABLE, SONORAS, NEW FREQUENCY, RESSONANCE, ACCESS CORE, AND MICROCOSMOS.as well as the arrangement collective known as LETIKÉ.
